A former IMPD officer who was accused of sexually assaulting a then-15-year-old girl one year ago was sentenced to six counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.

On Aug. 8, 2025, Judge James Osborn sentenced Paul Humphrey, 51, to 20 years in prison and two years' probation as a registered sex offender after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the teen on multiple occasions.

"It is disturbing and sickening to know that a police officer who is sworn to keep our community safe created such an unsafe environment and abused an innocent young child," Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said following the sentencing.
