DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — An Orangeburg County teen has been identified as the person found dead alongside a Dorchester County roadside days earlier.
Coroner Paul Brouthers said the body was discovered around 10 a.m. on Aug. 3 along White House Pond Road in the Rosinville community near Harleyville. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy was conducted on Wednesday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Brouthers said the body was initially unidentified, but his office officially confirmed on Friday that the victim was 18-year-old Antwon Javice Carmichael of Orangeburg.
While the investigation is ongoing and being conducted jointly with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, Coroner Brouthers confirmed the case is being investigated as a homicide.
