To meet the needs and demands of its local industries, Pikes Peak State College is bringing back an old option for aspiring nurses.
Starting this fall, students can sign up for the college’s Practical Nursing Program, which could provide a quicker path into the healthcare workforce. The certificate program will teach students hands-on skills for care over three semesters.
The first two semesters will include lecture and lab courses, utilizing new state-of-the-art equipment and a series of clinical hours at local facilities over the spring and summer semesters. Graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses and enter the workforce as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
