One of Colorado Springs' most popular trails is looking different these days.

Led by local nonprofit Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI), a volunteer crew recently hauled wood to Seven Bridges Trail to replace decking boards spanning over the highly-traveled creek reached from North Cheyenne Cañon Park.

"It's an incredibly popular trail," said Carl Woody, RMFI's program director. "So when we had our call to action for volunteers, we had a great show of support."

The call was from the U.S. Forest Service, which oversees the trail defined by its namesake bridges.

Amid heavy rain and high water that roared over the first bridge, the agency in June temporarily closed Seven Bridges Trail. Last month, the Forest Service announced removing the bridge and opening a detour path taking hikers
