BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Birmingham Police are on the scene of a shooting that occurred Friday evening.

According to Birmingham Police, they began receiving calls around 5:50 p.m. of multiple shots fired in and around the 1400 block of 1st Avenue North.

When officers arrived, they found a man and woman near a gas station with gunshot wounds.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and took both victims to the hospital. Police say the man suffered life-threatening injuries and the woman has non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say “an interaction” took place between the two victims and a separate suspect leading to the suspect shooting the victims.

Birmingham Police say it is believed that the suspect left the scene in a vehicle.
