KTRE SportsCOLMESNEIL, Texas (KTRE) - Back on Jul. 26th-27th, Colmesneil junior Dean yates competed in the AAU Junior Olympic Decathalon in Humble, TX.
Yates finished in sixth place, which is good enough to earn him an All-American title.
But with Dean being a multi-sport athlete, competing in track and field alongside football and basketball,
Competing against 30 of the top athletes in the country couldn’t quite compare to his normal training routine.
“It was actually pretty easy compared to what I usually do,”. Yates said. “...I’m out here practicing all day, and then I come back and play football, then I’ve got basketball.”
