Friday marks day nine for the out-of-control Wesley Ridge wildfire on Vancouver Island, making it a stressful stint for evacuees in surrounding communities — one couple in particular.
Evacuees, Jada and Shane Morgan live in Little Qualicum River Village. They had already put their belongings in storage, hours before they were ordered to evacuate on the evening of Aug. 1.
“Looking at how quickly the fire had spread overnight, we started to worry,” said Shane.
Even though the Morgans were prepared to leave at a moments notice, a trip to the hospital caught them off guard.

“I thought it was just the usual stomach ache so I took some Pepto Bismol and just tried to rest in the trailer but it wasn’t going away,” said Shane.
Shane suffered from a sud
