CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Calhoun County leaders recently announced plans to buy the OneWorld Pet Resort to use for a new center.
Thursday night, the county commission held a special public hearing with neighbors about this potential move.
During that meeting, many neighbors voiced excitement for the animals but raised some concerns over how they’ll pay for the larger facility.
“My concern with this is a lot of where is the funding coming from because you can buy it but it’s going to take more money than the current shelter,” said Sandy Allen.
For $2 million, Calhoun County plans to buy the OneWorld Pet Resort and boarding facility at Fort McClellan. The 38-acre state-of-the-art facility will be converted into a community animal shelter and adoption center.
