DES MOINES, Iowa —

One person was hospitalized with a gunshot wound following a shooting at a Des Moines park.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, patrol officers heard gunfire while on assignment. Officers responded to Prospect Park shortly before 7 p.m. and found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for his injury. A potential suspect was taken into custody, according to officers.

Police say there is no evidence of any ongoing threat to the area.
