PORTLAND, Maine — An Islesford man pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to making a false statement to a federal firearms dealer.
Federal prosecutors said William Heutz, 32, bought a Glock 19 9mm pistol from a licensed federal dealer in February 2023. On the required Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Form 4473, Heutz claimed he was the actual buyer. Investigators later found messages showing he purchased the gun for another person, who gave him the money for the transaction. Heutz kept the leftover funds and gave the firearm to that person.
Heutz faces up to 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to three years of supervised release. A federal judge will determine the sentence after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
