Growing up with two teacher parents in Santa Fe, Britten Nelson was used to being introduced to strangers wherever she went.
When she was out with her mother, Sandra Snider, Nelson said it was typically a "very normal interaction."
When she was out with her father, Richard Snider, though? A different story.
"Invariably, whoever it was would look at me in horror and say, 'Mr. Snider has kids?' " said Nelson, now 46 and a Seattle resident. "He was just such a big personality, and he was so weird and ... just really funny and irreverent and kind of inappropriate."
