VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A timeless treasure was recently found inside a junk car.

A towing company was about to haul off an old pickup truck when the tow operator found an American flag in a shadowbox on the passenger seat belonging to Richard Ford. He said he knew he had to act.

Randy Grady hauls junk cars, and though he has seen a lot of junk in those cars, he never thought he would see this. "So, I hopped in and see it just sitting there on the passenger seat,” Grady said. And he couldn't just let it go in the trash. "Technically, we're not supposed to take anything out of that, but I'm not letting that go in the trash," he said. "That's not where that goes."
