SALT LAKE CITY — A fire started in the mountains between Brigham City and North Ogden on Thursday.

Box Elder County announced on Facebook that the new Perry Canyon Fire was burning in trees approximately five miles south of the Mantua Reservoir.

The U.S. Forest Service said the fire was between three to five acres in size at approximately noon on Friday. Two fire engines, two helicopters and 25 personnel were on scene, the department said.

“Smoke maybe visible from surrounding areas. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT SMOKE, and for public and firefighter safety, avoid using the Willard Peak road to Inspiration Point while fire crews are working to suppress the fire,” the Forest Service said .

Utah Fire Info said no structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered.
