WHEELING, W.Va. –U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is using his visit to West Virginia to encourage individuals to stand up and fight against a broken system.
“I am here to beg of you to organize around this state, get working class people organized to stand up and fight the fight’s that have to be fought,” Sanders said in Wheeling Friday afternoon.
Sanders spoke at the Capitol Theatre as part of his ‘Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go from Here’ tour, which he launched in February.
During the rally, a wide range of topics were discussed; however, the two most heavily emphasized were education and the housing crisis facing the country.
Sanders said that the U.S. used to lead the world in the best educated population, but that is no longer the case.
