An Okanagan musician who brought joy to others by providing a stage and an audience has passed away.

Dennis Chaykowski died on July 29 following a brief illness. He was 76.

Chaykowski was a talented singer, guitarist, and harmonica player who also wrote and produced original music.

In Clearwater, near Kamloops, he owned a small café and soon began hosting music nights, where attendance grew from 15 people to hundreds. He organized an annual fundraiser there for the local food bank for more than 20 years — an event that continues to this day.

He moved to Penticton 16 years ago to be near family and volunteered his services as stage manager at Okanagan Lake Park for the Penticton Peach Festival.

He was responsible for ensuring that acts got on and off stage
