One great thing about baseball? Sometimes you win a game that you have absolutely no business winning.

Those kinds of victories have been few and far between for the 2025 Orioles, but they secured an unlikely 3-2 win over the Athletics tonight despite being held scoreless — and with an infield single their only hit — after the first inning. Even their three-run rally in the first wouldn’t have happened if not for a blown strike call. But a strong Tomoyuki Sugano and two relievers made the early lead stand up, giving the O’s the victory in the opener of the three-game set.
