LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - According to LexArts’ 990 tax form , the nonprofit lost close to $300,000 in net income last year.

Vice President Nathan Zamarron says some of that loss comes from federal funding cuts.

“It is something that we’ve got our eye on and trying to stay ahead of,” Zamarron says.

“The big question mark is, moving forward…are those grant monies gonna be there…from the federal level? And of course there’s a trickle down effect with the National Endowment for the Arts supports the Kentucky Arts Council, which then supports many organizations here in our community.”

Zamarron says he believes staffing changes and community backlash also led to losses.

One 2024 LexArts display faced scrutiny when some said there was a lack of diversity in the artists chosen.
