LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A shooting at a Dixie Highway Wendy’s over cold french fries generated headlines across the world.

But court proceedings and new video are providing insight into what really happened that night.

The man charged with assault for shooting at the Wendy’s employee just got out of jail this week. His cousin gave WAVE surveillance video she says disputes the police’s description of what happened.

Shanneil Wooten said her cousin’s story has lot of layers, but no one has gotten past the french fries.

“There were cold fries, and the manager threw them at the girl,” said Wooten.

Police said the cold french fries led Monjah James Wooten to come into the Wendy’s, where he fired a shot, and an employee shot back.
