POKANE, Wash. – The Dan Kleckner Golf Classic brought together veterans from different military branches to enjoy a day on the green and connect with one another.

The event, which appeals to both skilled golfers and those just looking to have fun, attracted some participants after a simple Google search for "veteran golf events in Idaho and Spokane."

David Harris, Travis Walter, and John Bales, who served in the Navy, joined Army veteran Luke Jones for a memorable day.

The event held special meaning for Harris, who carried the memory of his son, also named David Harris, an Air Force veteran who died by suicide three years ago.

"It's good to see us, it's good to see veterans, especially those that are struggling, come out and have a good time no matter what," Harris said.
