CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A Charlottesville-based company is competing in the Startup World Cup Virginia Regional Finals, where a victory would send it on to San Francisco and a chance at a cool million.

Luminoah is a medical technology company that's focused on transforming chronic disease care. Founder Neil Piper says that the idea for the startup came from a family crisis. His son was 3 and had a rare brain tumor that prevented him from eating and drinking.
