A judge blocked a project to build one of the world’s largest data center developments in rural Prince William County, Virginia.

In December 2023, the Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning ordinance to allow the project to be built in a rural part of the county. Neighbors took the county to court and won.

Homeowners like Mac Haddow spent the past two years fighting against the Prince William County Digital Gateway project, taking the data center companies and the county to court. They argued the county rushed the approval of the project and broke the law by not properly advertising public hearings and sharing certain information with the community.
