BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A small plane crashed into a canal near Interstate 95 on Friday afternoon, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said that the crash happened at a canal that separates Indian River County and Brevard County, though it was ultimately determined to have fallen on the Brevard side.

“Deputies and fire rescue arrived on scene, locating the single-engine plane partially submerged,” the release reads.

Upon investigation, deputies said they discovered the pilot walking nearby, though he wasn’t injured.

“He was the sole occupant of the aircraft,” the release continues.
