Carlos Santana had four RBIs, C.J. Kayfus doubled twice and drove in three, and the visiting Cleveland Guardians opened a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox with a 9-5 win on Friday.

The Guardians have won 20 of their last 27 games to improve to 60-55. They are a half game behind the New York Yankees (61-55) for the final American League wild card playoff spot .

Tanner Bibee (8-9) allowed four runs on five hits over 5 1/3 innings for Cleveland, which led 9-1 after four innings before securing its fourth straight win.
