ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For the first few weeks of Lobo football training camp, it was primarily the upperclassmen on display. During Thursday's scrimmage, one of the key contributors was freshman linebacker Thomas Pettus.
The former Volcano Vista standout admitted that the first two weeks had been rough for him. He had a hard time adjusting to a new playbook and leaned heavily on his linebacker counterparts for advice.
During the scrimmage, he was put on the field against the first-team offense. He intercepted Jack Layne.
Later in the scrimmage, he sealed the victory for the defense with an interception in the endzone.
Thanks to his performance, he was one of four players on the day to receive the daily "grit hammer."
"It really meant a lot because I've really been working hard,"
