ATLANTA — A DeKalb Police officer killed Friday during an active shooter situation near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University's Atlanta campus has been identified.
Officer David Rose, 33, died in the line of duty, the police department said.
DeKalb's interim Police Chief, Greg Padrick, and DeKalb County's CEO, Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, shared news of the tragic loss in a news conference Friday night.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of the life of one of our very own DeKalb County police officers," said interim Chief Padrick. "This officer responded to the call as he was trained to do, and during that incident, he received gunfire and he lost his life in this incident. He was committed to serving the community."
