The Texas Rangers scored one run but the Philadelphia Phillies scored nine runs.

Like the most celebrated Rangers team, Merrill Kelly found himself on a heater in October 2023. The veteran righty was the only man to cool off Texas in the World Series, in fact, and in the start before that, he out-dueled Aaron Nola in Game 6 of the NLCS at Philly to set up a Game 7 for the Diamondbacks. Who knows how the World Series might have turned out if Kelly wasn’t a part of that landscape.

Tonight, the Phillies got a measure of revenge on Kelly to the detriment of the home squad. In his second outing since coming over to Texas at the trade deadline, and his first in front of the Arlington fans at The Shed, Kelly lasted just 4.1 innings and allowed four runs on five hits and five walks.
