FARGO — A Cass County judge has issued a deferred sentence to the man accused of vandalizing a Tesla Cybertruck in West Fargo this spring.

Ryan Williams, 25, changed his plea to guilty this week to criminal mischief charges.

In late March, Williams was caught on camera vandalizing a Fargo man's Cybertruck, and West Fargo Police said Williams did it as part of a national online movement encouraging damage against Tesla vehicles.

The damage was enough to rise to a felony level, estimated at $2,500.

Williams now faces 360 days of unsupervised probation and 80 hours of community service.

Cass County Judicial Officer Nicholas Chase said Friday, Aug. 8, he was impressed by Williams' apology letter to the court, but his action still requires a penalty.
