THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KABC) -- New bodycam video released Friday shows what happened during a dramatic shooting in Thousand Oaks last month in which deputies opened fire on a man who later died.

The incident happened on July 1 in the 500 block of Racket Club Lane when deputies responded to a call about a man armed with a gun experiencing a mental health crisis.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, a family member told deputies that the man - identified as 23-year old Dominic Saad - was armed with a gun and was threatening them.

"He said we were trying to get the gun from him," the family member is heard telling the deputy in the video, which was posted on the Ventura County Sheriff's Office's YouTube channel .
