U.S. Sen. Jon Husted (R., Ohio) believes that Toledo was not negatively affected by the One Big Beautiful Bill.
He’s wrong.
He told our reporter, Alice Momany, that there was no provision in the recently enacted budget that took away $26 million in federal grant funding for an East Toledo intersection upgrade.
The city’s grants administrator, Simon Nyi, told The Blade that all unobligated funds that were authorized under the Neighborhood Access and Equity program were repealed by the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Asked for a comment about that, Mr. Husted adopted a Trumpian posture. “That’s just not true,” the senator said after conducting a political event outside a West Toledo restaurant on Monday.
