You know the high school football season is right around the corner when it's time for the annual Prelude to a Championship at Finley Stadium. On Friday, a trio of area teams played in scrimmages.

Walker Valley and Ringgold kicked things off. While the Mustangs went in front 7-3 in the first quarter, the Tigers quickly answered with back-to-back fumble recovery touchdowns.

Ringgold led 24-7 at the half, but Walker Valley cut into that deficit in the fourth quarter, as Jax Weiss connected with Landon Davis for a touchdown.

Ringgold wins by a final of 24-13.

The Tigers will open up their season on Thursday at home against Dade County. Walker Valley will be on the road at Farragut.

Dade County and Warren County followed. The Wolverines scored on their first drive of the game. Win Garmany
