FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The first human case of West Nile virus this year has been confirmed in Fresno County.
The Fresno County Department of Public Health says the infection was identified through routine testing of a blood donor.
Action News reported in June that the first West Nile activity in mosquitoes was detected.
One West Nile death was also confirmed in Tulare County earlier this summer.
As of August 1, there have been seven human cases of West Nile in California this year and that number is expected to rise.
