ELOY, Ariz. (KVOA) - A new data center, dubbed the La Osa Project, is proposed for development in southern Arizona, just outside of Eloy. The massive site would encompass more than 3,3000 acres.
Former Eloy Mayor Micah Powell is “optimistic” about the project becoming a reality.
“There’s been a lot of plans in this Pinal County area, especially the Casa Grande, Eloy area, these dreams to happen and none of them really pan out,” Powell said. “So if it happens, it’d be a nice global data center.”
Powell emphasized the need for adequate infrastructure, such as water and power, for the project to succeed.
“Anything’s possible, you just have to find it," he said.
Vermaland, the developer behind the project, believes that water usage might not be necessary.
