More and more Americans and Canadians are capitalizing on an opportunity to earn citizenship in Caribbean countries through a "golden passport" in a new kind of rebellion. Citizen by Investment (CBI) programs, as they're called, have been around for decades, but many believe the political tensions in both the U.S. and Canada, among other factors like the increasing cost of living, inflation, and unaffordable healthcare and housing, may be responsible for the recent surge.
Within the last few months, there have been many studies on the emigration of citizens from both countries. International media reported that an analysis by Astons of 2024 data from the U.S. Federal Register suggests that close to 5,000 Americans will leave by the end of the year, which amounts to an annual increase of
