National parks can be dangerous places at times. We often forget that these protected areas are characterized by unspoiled nature, which means there are plenty of threats from flora, fauna, natural elements, and more. For instance, in late June, park officials at Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park confirmed the presence of White Nose Syndrome in a bat in Grand County . This was quite surprising since it was the first case in the area.

Similarly, park officials from another popular park observed a suspected bat colony that may carry a disease fatal to humans. The finding was announced through a press release , and authorities are now trying to contact visitors who may have been exposed to it.
