A man is his fifties has been arrested after armed police swarmed a block of flats in Stamford Hill yesterday (August 8). He remains in custody on suspicion of firearm possession, having allegedly threatened another man with a gun.
No one was injured during the incident, and detectives believe there is no wider risk to the public. Calls were made to 999 just after 11.15am, with police, paramedics and firefighters soon flooding the residential area below.
A cordon was set up along Amhurst Park and Holmdale Terrace whilst armed officers swept the scene. Overground services at the adjacent Stamford Hill station were unaffected, but a number of bus stops were closed.
The surrounding roads were reopened to traffic and pedestrians at around 3.15pm.
