NORTH CHARLESTON — The $1 billion expansion of Boeing Co.'s 787 program is shifting into a higher gear with the relocation of all employee parking, freeing up space for what is quickly becoming a full-blown construction site.

Starting this weekend, workers will be shuttled to their jobs from a new remote lot on the opposite side of International Boulevard, where much of the new development activity is planned.

The partially completed parking area is accessible by an extension of South Aviation Avenue. The new lot provides enough spaces to meet the company's immediate needs, Boeing South Carolina said Friday.

At the same time, the company has released its most detailed rendering to date showing the changes that are coming over the next few years.
