Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles will make an important address to the nation next week.
Charles will issue a special message to the country to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
The monarch has pre-recorded his address, which will be broadcast on Friday, August 15.
It will come ahead of a service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum, in Staffordshire .
King Charles and Queen Camilla will join Second World War veterans and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for the service.
VJ Day marks the anniversary of Japan’s surrender to the Allies following the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
This effectively brought an end to the Second World War.
