Changes will be made to O2's network which will mean some phones will stop working soon.

Across the UK, there are plans to shut down Britain's 3G network.

This ageing technology was first launched in 2003 but has already been shut down by EE and Vodafone.

Now Virgin Media O2 is slowly hitting the off switch as well.

Areas including Telford, Durham, Norwich, Guildford, and Torquay have seen O2's 3G platform disconnected and Watford will be next.

Virgin Media O2 says this area will see the end of 3G from September 17.

It means that from that date, customers in Watford will need 4G or 5G-ready devices to access the internet or send messages via online services such as WhatsApp.
