Motorists throughout the UK who have successfully completed their driving test have been cautioned that they may need to act swiftly, or face the prospect of retaking their examination.

Travel specialists on social media have alerted drivers that whilst your licence application is normally processed automatically, this isn't always guaranteed.

The official Roads and Transport MPS account on X, formerly Twitter, cautioned followers: "If you pass your driving test then remember to notify the DVLA.
