An upcoming movie directed, acted and produced entirely in West Virginia follows students with their own filming plans in the Mountain State’s woods, but those plans are interrupted when they realize they aren’t alone.

The film, “ Project Butterfly: Flatwoods ,” was created by Felinton Inc. Entertainment, an entertainment company founded by Samuel Felinton focused on fostering local talent in Appalachia and amplifying Appalachian creativity.

Felinton, who directed, edited and partially wrote the film, said he was inspired by the 1999 film “The Blair Witch Project” when creating the film. He said “Project Butterfly: Flatwoods” is meant to be a found-footage film, meaning it is styled as if someone stumbled across and uploaded the footage from a found camera.
