BAUDETTE, Minn. – The Lake of the Woods County Board has scheduled a public hearing for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, to discuss the fate of a historic, but dilapidated building that once was part of the Tobin Fishery commercial fishing operation on Lake of the Woods.
The board also will consider whether the owners of the building, which sits within a county highway right-of-way, are liable for unauthorized construction.
The hearing results from a dispute between the county and two Baudette-area brothers over their plan to fix up the old Tobin Fishery building on Bostic Creek along Lake of the Woods County Road 8 northwest of Baudette. The building is one of the last vestiges of the big lake’s commercial fishing industry, which ended when the state bought out the lake’s last commercial nette
