BRISTOL, Tenn. — Bristol Motor Speedway President Jerry Caldwell apologized Monday for circumstances that left some fans dissatisfied with their experience at the Speedway Classic baseball game.
Unhappy fans took to social media Saturday night to express frustration over long lines, a shortage of food and beverages at concession stands and the generally soggy weather surrounding Tennessee’s first MLB contest between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds.
Rain fell much of the day Saturday with heavier showers arriving that evening.
MLB delayed the scheduled 7:20 p.m., start of the game due to the weather then began play at 9:40 p.m. However, heavy showers resumed, turning the infield dirt into a mire and ultimately forcing postponement of play.
