SAGINAW, MI- Colorful garments, delicious food and spoken word filled the air on the former Morley School grounds for the Saginaw African Cultural Festival.

The event kicked off on Friday, August 8, and featured lines of vendors selling art, African clothing and food.

Morro Sisawo, a Gambian clothing vendor, had racks full of garments that he personally sourced from his home country. Through traveling from festival to festival with his business, it allows him educate others about his culture, Sisawo said.

Along with many African vendors, many locals were also selling goods during the festival.

Zacharias Parks, a Saginaw native, grew up attending the festival and was featured as a vendor selling his artwork this year.
