Dear Carol: Alzheimer’s runs in our family. We prayed Mom would be spared, but that’s not to be, and last week, she received her official diagnosis. I’ve read enough of your work to know not to argue because her sense of logic is slipping away. You’ve also stressed we shouldn’t say things like “Don’t you remember?” because that would humiliate her. My large extended family could use some help, so we’re asking you to provide general tips to help everyone understand how Mom’s brain works. We want to do better. – TG
