The Bell Mansion, one of Greater Sudbury’s most iconic heritage properties, is now officially listed for sale at $1 million.

Also known as Belrock, the Bell Mansion was built in 1907 and sits on 2.1 acres at 251 John St. It has more than 8,000 square feet of interior space, according to realtors.

Laurentian University owns Bell Mansion but is selling it due to the high cost of repairs and its ongoing efforts to stabilize finances following its insolvency restructuring. The university has already sold other properties, including its former president’s residence, to help pay creditors from its insolvency proceedings.

Most recently home to the Art Gallery of Sudbury, the building is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act and zoned institutionally.
