Swimmers were able to cool off again at the beach at Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park on Friday after a five-week hiatus.

Park officials closed the beach on July 1 after flow on the Kaministiquia River picked up, making the river unsafe for bathers.

The beach is routinely closed when flows on the river exceed 50 cubic metres per second, a Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks spokesman said. A previous closure this season for the same reason occurred between April 18 and May 19.
