Caoimhin Kelleher is an early injury doubt for Brentford’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest next Sunday.

The Republic of Ireland international joined Brentford in a £18 million deal from Liverpool in June.

Kelleher travelled with the squad for their pre-season training camp in Portugal this summer and played in friendlies against Gil Vicente and QPR.

However, the 26-year-old missed Brentford’s final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday, with Hakon Valdimarsson deputising in goal.

Brentford were also without Kevin Schade, who scored 11 goals in the Premier League, and Brazilian forward Gustavo Nunes, who was forced off after 10 minute with a hamstring injury during the friendly against Gil Vicente.
