Have you ever watched someone with asthma struggle to breathe? Their chest heaves upward, desperate to draw in air. Then comes the tight, wheezing exhale. It’s painful to witness, yet even more agonizing to endure. As toxic wildfire smoke fills our skies, more people are being forced into that terrifying reality.

The data is clear: when wildfire smoke increases, so do visits to Emergency Departments. Some of those visits end in tragedy. A friend of our family lost their daughter during one of these smoke waves.
