Dogs with underbites, snaggle teeth and no fur might not take home the top prize at the prestigious Westminster Dog Show, but they just might at the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest — an annual Sonoma County staple beloved by audiences nationwide.

On Friday evening, ugly pups from across the country took the stage at the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa with their owners.

The event, hosted by the 4th District Agricultural Association and sponsored by MUG Root Beer, kicked off just after 6 p.m. Friday.

So, who was declared the ugliest dog of all?

Petunia!

Petunia, a 2-year-old hairless French bulldog mix, was described by owner Shannon Nyman of Eugene, Oregon, as a “world class snuggler.”
