HEPHZIBAH, Ga (WJBF) - The city of Augusta hoping to help those of you who say you need help paying rent.
Hundreds at the Robert Howard Community Center hope their applications get approved to help with rent, utilities and other housing related needs.
Due to the large number of applicants, the city has had to limit the intake locations and is no longer taking walk-ins at the main office or online.
One person I spoke with waited in line for almost 4 hours but says she appreciates what the city is doing.
“It’s good that they’re helping people with their bills and rent, and you know with the kids starting back at school its good because they need the TV on, they need the lights on, they got to have their food in the refrigerator,” said Lina Wright.
